Nice pic. They look kinda scary, but if I remember correctly, they don't bite you and they're not poisonous, so I guess that's a positive thing; but I do bet they're annoying as hell.

I live in Clermont County, just east of the apparent mega-center of the metro Cincinnati outbreak of cicadas. We have friends just five miles to our west in Anderson Township in Hamilton County, who have cicadas all over their house exterior, outside basement masonry, trees, shrubs, and bushes. The things make their kamikaze dives for love while our friends mow their lawns or walk to their cars. Cicada love calls fill the air 24/7. But out here, a mere five miles away, we haven't seen a single cicada. Maybe the low-rent district doesn't appeal to the critters. Actually though, I think it has more to do with the fact that the bulk of our housing is newer and the little devils who would have emerged here were probably dug up during their seventeen-year hiatus in the dirt. When I tell friends in other parts of the metro area that we haven't been blessed with cicadas, they can hardly believe it.
